Alzheimer’s is a heart-wrenching disease wrought with emotional pain and worry. As devastating as the effects of Alzheimer’s can be, the disease also opens the door for people to show extraordinary acts of kindness and love to those affected. 

These inspirational videos will show you the incredible things that are being done for those living with dementia and Alzheimer’s, and will hopefully leave you with a smile.

1. Puppy Love

When June was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, her husband thought a service dog may help her and keep her safe on walks. This amazing video shows the immediate bond between June and her dog meeting for the first time.

2. The Power of Music

This amazing video is evidence of the power of music for those living with Alzheimer’s and dementia. For many people affected by the disease, familiar songs can break through communication barriers. Watch and be amazed as one non-verbal woman communicates with her caregiver through music.

3. A Husband’s Love

This video is actually a ThaiLife Insurance commercial but you will forget what they are selling as you journey through one man’s life of caring for his wife who has dementia. Every day, as he reminds her who she is and of their life together before Alzheimer’s, he is showing her unconditional love, even when it is obvious that she does not remember him.

4. The Love Between A Mother and Daughter

The work of an Alzheimer’s caregiver can be especially heart wrenching for families when their parents do not remember who they are. Watch this short, but incredibly powerful moment of clarity when one woman affected by Alzheimer’s remembers her daughter. 

5. “Remember”

This fictional short film entitled, “Remember” shows a man with Alzheimer’s discussing what it’s like to live with the disease with his wife. The video depicts his memory as a young boy living alone in an abandoned house. The video gives great insight into what life may be like for someone in the early stages of the diseases and is also a call to action for early diagnosis and testing when possible.

6. Celebrities Raising Awareness

Seth Rogen and his wife, Lauren Miller, appeared on “The Meredith Vieira” show discussing their charity, Hilarity for Charity, and why Alzheimer’s is so important to them. The dedication of these two young celebrities to raising awareness and fighting Alzheimer’s is incredibly inspiring. 

7. The Buddy System

The Harvard Alzheimer’s Buddies Program pairs students with people diagnosed with dementia. Watch as both student and patient learn from each other and enrich each other’s lives.
