Heavener is a city in Le Flore County, Oklahoma, United States. It is part of the Fort Smith, Arkansas-Oklahoma Metropolitan Statistical Area. It was named for Joseph H. Heavener, who settled in the area about 1877. The population was 3,414 at the 2010 census, an increase of 6.7 percent from 3,201 at the 2000 census.
